Custom web development
This covers the structure and content of the site, a content management system you can actually use, technical optimisation and a handover into your own ownership. The platform is chosen to fit the project, not my specialisation.
What I build every website on
Discoverability
Technical SEO is not something I bolt on after launch. It starts with the first page: heading structure, URLs, internal linking, structured data and files for language models. That gives the site a real chance both at search rankings and at being cited in AI answers.
Speed
Images in modern formats, a minimum of third-party scripts, no plugins you do not need. Technical optimisation of the code and all the things you never see on a website, but that keep you ahead of the competition.
No developer needed
After the handover you change texts, images and whole pages yourself. A new article or landing page does not mean an e-mail to your supplier, waiting around and an invoice for an hour of work.
How I choose the platform
I do not have one platform that every client gets pushed into. I ask who will manage the site, how often the content changes, what has to connect to other systems and what the budget for running it is. The solution comes out of those answers.
- Webflow. Company websites that marketing should manage on its own. A visual editor, a CMS with custom fields and hosting in one place. It is what I use most often and where I am a certified Premium Partner. The details are on the Webflow development page.
- Headless CMS. When there is a lot of content, several people write it, or the same data is used on the website and in an app. A separate editing system and a front end of its own.
- Custom code. Where a bespoke solution is needed: web applications, calculators and interactive elements, configurators, connections to internal systems and so on.
You get the recommendation together with the reason why that one, and with what it will cost you to run for a year.
How the project runs
1. Consultation
Half an hour in detail about what the site has to do and about any specifics of working together. Book a slot, it is free and with no strings attached.
2. Proposal and schedule
I send the scope of work, the price and the delivery date by e-mail.
3. Development on a non-indexed prototype
The site is built on a hidden address you have access to the whole time.
4. Testing and launch
Speed, mobile rendering, forms, analytics, redirects from the old URLs. Only then does it go live.
5. Handover and training
I transfer the project into your account, so the copyright and the website itself are yours. I show you how to manage the content on your own and stay available for further development.
What every website includes
Visual editor
You see the changes before you publish them. Access for the whole team and a hidden prototype for testing.
Content management
A CMS built for easy day-to-day management and for developing the website further.
Design system
Components you can use to put together a new page or extend an existing one.
Responsive design
A site tuned for phones, tablets and large monitors, not just a shrunken desktop version.
Technical optimisation
Lean images, clean code and only the scripts you need. You cannot see it, but it keeps you ahead.
Ownership
The account, the domain and the project are in your name. You can continue with anyone else at any time.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How much does web development cost?
The price depends on the number of pages, the complexity of the design and what the site has to do on the functional side, for example a connection to a CRM or a custom web application (calculators, interactive elements and so on).
A smaller company presentation runs in the low thousands of euros, a larger project with a CMS and integrations in the higher thousands. I prepare an exact quote after the initial consultation, where we agree on the scope.
- How long does web development take?
A smaller presentation is usually finished in 2 to 3 weeks from the start, a larger company website in 4 to 8 weeks.
- What platform will you build the site on?
It depends on who will manage the site and what it has to do. Most often Webflow, because marketing can manage the content there on its own and I am a certified Premium Partner in it.
If a headless system or custom code makes more sense, I will say so and explain why. You get the choice of platform together with an estimate of what it costs to run for a year.
- Will I manage the site myself after handover?
Yes, that is the whole point of the way I build sites. You change texts, images and whole pages yourself, in an editor where you see the change live on the page.
During the handover we go through where to edit what, and you have my contact details in case you need advice.
- Will you migrate the old content and the redirects too?
Yes. Migrating content from the existing site is a normal part of the job. So are redirects from the old URLs to the new ones, so the site does not lose its search rankings after launch.
This is the most common reason traffic drops after a redesign, which is why I deal with it before launch rather than reacting to whatever happens.
